Village set for annual carnival
Wednesday 8th July 2009, 9:00AM BST.

This year’s West Felton Carnival is being held on Sunday July 12th and is set to be the biggest ever, with a host of entertainment on offer as well as a fun fair and BBQ.
At 1.30pm, the West Felton Carnival Queen will lead a procession of fabulous floats, dancers and entertainers including a clown and balloon modeller, a fire eater and stilt walker, and a Brazilian Samba Reggae band, from outside the Punchbowl pub on a circuit of the village, ending in the playing fields on Tedsmore Road.
Visitors on the field will be treated to Morris Dancers, a comedy magic show, balloon modelling and lots of great stage performances including a cabaret by local artist Matthew Tong.
There will also be stalls packed with everything from hand-turned wood items to cakes from the local Women’s Institute.
Taster sessions of reflexology and Indian head massage will be available, and visitors can enjoy a barbeque, well-stocked bar, tombola, fun fair, mini train ride and face painting, along with a specialist demonstration and ‘have a go’ workshop in basket making with Ted Bruce.
Tickets are available on the day and priced £1.50 per adult, with free entry for OAPs and children.
