Weather cools as showers sweep in
Monday 6th July 2009, 10:53AM BST.
Umbrellas were expected to be going up across Shropshire this week with showers sweeping in to mark an end to the mini-heatwave.
Cooler days are also ahead as the high pressure, which saw temperatures soar to more than 30C (86F) across the county last week, is pushed aside by low pressure from the west.
Shropshire Star weatherman John Warner said: “Temperatures are expected to go down tomorrow and on Wednesday and Thursday to below the seasonal average.
“We would normally expect it to be about 20C (68F) at this time of year but the middle of the week will see temperatures of 18C (64C).
“There will be showers, some heavy, but they are not expected to be as bad in Shropshire as elsewhere.”
A spokesman for MeteoGroup said: “Unfortunately it does seem to be the case that the heatwave is over.”
