Tesco hit by fridge hitch

Friday 3rd July 2009, 12:11PM BST.

tesco_bagsA Shropshire Tesco store had to get rid of some of its chilled stock when a power problem affected a “large proportion” of its fridges.

Staff at the Tesco Extra store in Battlefield Road, Shrewsbury, discovered the problem at about 1pm yesterday.

Managers said the issue related to a compressor on the roof of the supermarket, which supplies power to some of the fridges in the store. It meant some chilled stock had to be wasted as it could not be kept cool. Power was restored at 7pm.
