Scuba dive centre opens in town
Friday 3rd July 2009, 7:00AM BST.

Britain’s newest dive centre and the only one in Shrewsbury has opened to give scuba fanatics the opportunity to brush up on their skills and pick up the latest gear.
Wanadive Scuba Centre, a diver training centre and shop, has opened in Hartley Business Centre in Monkmoor, Shrewsbury.
The centre is being run by husband and wife team Jane and Paul Phillips.
Mrs Phillips has been organising diving holidays to the Red Sea for many years, together with trips to Bulgaria, Malta, Lanzarote and Mallorca as well as trips around the coast of Britain.
Diver training is being coordinated by Mr Phillips, who is a BSAC advanced instructor and the training officer for Shrewsbury Sub Aqua Club.
The club meets every Thursday night at the Quarry Pool in Shrewsbury.
Mrs Phillips said the shop is the only one in Shrewsbury and the nearest dive shop for 40 miles around.
She said: “Since we opened it’s been going very well.
“We’ve had a steady number of people with some already signing up for training courses.
“It’s always been my husband’s dream to do this and we think more people will be going diving around the coast of Britain because of the recession.”
She added they may be taking staff on in the future if the business expanded.
The dive centre is a British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC) Premier and Seamanship Centre and is at the Hartley Business Centre.
