Go-ahead for Milijas on permit
Friday 3rd July 2009, 12:59PM BST.
Wolves have revealed Serbia midfielder Nenad Milijas has been granted a work permit.
The Barclays Premier League newcomers signed the 26-year-old from Red Star Belgrade two weeks ago but he fell just short of the minimum number of international appearances required to secure a permit.
However, the club appealed against the decision and enlisted help from Serbia coach Raddy Antic, who supported Milijas’ case.
And an appeal panel including officials from the Football Association, Premier League and Professional Footballers’ Association granted the player’s permit today.
“It is great news,” said Milijas. “I am really glad that I am now a Wolves player and can’t wait to get started.”
