police-lights2Thousands of pounds of stolen property has been recovered in a police raid near Oswestry.

Audio goods and power tools were among the haul found in a house in St Martins following the arrest of a suspected burglar.

Police discovered a variety of items thought to be stolen, including 25 Inovix media MP3 players still in their boxes.

Police are now trying to trace the owners and are appealing for people to come forward.

Constable Richard Johnson, investigating officer, said: “We suspect the property has been stolen and it’s possible it may have been taken from addresses across Shropshire and even further afield.

“It was recovered after we searched the home address of a man from the Oswestry area who was arrested on suspicion of committing a burglary at a school in Church Stretton.

“He has since been granted police bail pending further inquiries.”

A range of boxed home entertainment items were recovered in the raid.

Also recovered were a Compaq laptop in a bag, a Tevlon mini satellite system and a number of power tools, from strimmers to jigsaws and a Kingavon generator.

Constable Johnson said: “I’m hoping we can identify the rightful owners.

“Anyone wanting further information with a view to making a claim can contact me at Ludlow police station on 0300 333 3000.”
