Nick Owen
Ludlow Festival
Interviews with Eric Morcambe, Joan Collins and Princess Diana were just a few of the highlights in the career of the latest celebrity to appear at Ludlow Festival.
Former breakfast TV presenter Nick Owen spent an hour chatting about his life during An Audience with Nick Owen at Ludlow Assembly Rooms yesterday.
Fans were taken on a journey through the best bits of Owen’s interviewing career as he used his relaxed and witty style to paint a picture of his life as a journalist, sports presenter, on the sofa with Anne Diamond and as anchor man for BBC Midlands Today.
Among his top interviews was a chat with the legendary Eric Morcambe, who Mr Owen described as “tremendously funny”.
He told how Eric said he was fit as a fiddle after a heart operation and recommended anyone who needed it to have heart surgery. Just 40 days later, Mr Owen said, he was horrified to hear of Eric’s death from a heart attack.
There was a book signing after the show.
