Twenty20 thrills at Shrewsbury
Tuesday 30th June 2009, 1:40PM BST.
Shropshire’s cricketing cream are preparing to do Twenty20 battle – as a familiar competition returns to the county calendar.
Shrewsbury, Wellington, Shifnal and St Georges will compete in the Salop Leisure Knockout.
The event will take place at Shrewsbury’s London Road on Sunday, July 19, with clubs using coloured clothing.
Shrewsbury will meet St Georges in the first semi-final at 10.30am, with Telford rivals Shifnal and Wellington going head-to-head at 1.45pm.
The two winners then go into a final at 5pm.
The old Salop Caravans Knockout, which included a host of teams from across the county, was scrapped two years ago due to the ever-expanding cricket fixture list facing clubs.
But the tournament has now been brought back, with the top four graded teams in the county invited to compete each year.
