Thanks to 87-year-old Ernie Gwilliam, of Bayston Hill, for e-mailing us this photo which he tells us was taken in the early 1950s and shows staff at the British Rail goods depot at Castle Foregate, Shrewsbury, about to board a coach for an outing to Blackpool.
Ernie can recall some of the names. Back, from left, are: “Bert”, unknown, Cliff Gregory, Ernie himself, Jack Grimshaw, two unknowns, Ben Moore, unknown, Frank Marshall, Tom Richards, “Bill” and Fred Eaves.
Centre are: Dick Evans, two unknowns, Eunice Chaney, five unknowns, Mr Sedgewick and Dave Rogers.
“I don’t recall the names on the front row, nor the children. Some relatives may recognise them,” said Ernie.
“I was employed at British Rail for 20 years.”
