Morgan’s confident of a Wolves deal for Doyle

Thursday 25th June 2009, 2:36PM BST.

logo_wolves1Wolves owner Steve Morgan hints the club remain confident of signing £6.5m target Kevin Doyle – despite Bolton matching the asking price.

Fulham are believed to have joined Wolves in holding talks with the Reading striker, while Bolton and Sunderland are also interested.

Growing interest in the Republic of Ireland international means the process could become a slow-burner.

But, asked how confident he was of bringing in Doyle, the Wolves owner-chairman’s hopes were high.

He said: “I’m very confident that we’re signing players at the right level and age to come to the club and bring competition for places. Kevin Doyle is a quality player and all the players we’re talking to are quality players.

“We’re still hoping to sign two or three. If someone like him becomes available, then we have to be interested.

“We had a number of players lined up for specific positions and we’re having very constructive talks with several .

“I’d like to think we’ll make further announcements in the next week or two.”

Wolves have barely touched the £30m investment Morgan has ringfenced as part of his takeover of the club, since swelled by the further £30m of TV money gained by winning promotion.

The 56-year-old multi-millionaire insists the fee for Doyle and others are within budget.
