A £10,000 reward was offered today by detectives leading an attempted murder investigation after a Shropshire man was left fighting for his life following a brutal attack.

The first CCTV images of a car wanted in connection with the attack were also released today. The Asian man, 29, was dragged from his car and beaten after three men smashed the windows of his Audi A4.

The man was sitting inside the car outside his home in Urban Gardens in Wellington.

He suffered multiple injuries, including serious head injuries and an injury to his arm. He has since undergone life-saving surgery and remains “stable” but “poorly” in hospital after the attack in the early hours of June 1.  A dark coloured BMW was captured on camera leaving the scene.

A team of top detectives from across West Mercia Police was drafted in to set up a major investigation unit at Malinsgate Police Station in the hunt for the gang of three Asian men.

Detective Chief Inspector Lee Davenport said: “The investigation into this assa-ult is ongoing. As part of this today we are releasing two CCTV images of a vehicle we are extremely keen to trace.

“The vehicle shown in the images – which thanks to expert analysis we believe to be a dark coloured BMW – passed a camera on the way out of Urban Gardens at around the time of this assault. It is therefore possible the occupants may have crucial information about what actually happened.”

He added: “We have received excellent co-operation from the local community as we have gone about our inquiries in the area but are now putting up a £10,000 reward for information that leads to a conviction in an attempt to encourage more people to come forward.”

He said: “I would like to reassure anyone with information that we are able to provide them with the necessary, specialist support should they share that information with us.”

The victim had been driving around Hadley and Wellington from 2.30am and may have been followed home before the attack between 3.30am and 4am.

Mr Davenport urged anyone with information to call police on 0300 333 3000 or to remain anonymous call Cri-mestoppers on 0800 555111.

When was the last time we saw a £10,000 reward put up for an attack made on a white British person in Telford? There are attacks weekly in the town of Wellington, but it takes an Asian man to be attacked (by other Asians) for the police to put up an award.
I have recently had a friend attacked in Wellington and know other men that have been attacked in the last few months, some with injuries as severe as this man and nothing was done. I am all for equality but it seems to be pro minorities in our town.
