accident_sign5A 37-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital after she fell from a horse near Whitchurch.

Ambulance staff believe the horse then stood on the woman’s head after she fell from the animal while riding on land off Willeymoor Lane in Tushingham cum Grindley, in Cheshire, just before 7pm yesterday.

Murray MacGregor, West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, said: “Unfortunately, the horse appears to have stood on her head. The woman had a head injury, as well as neck and shoulder pain.

“She was airlifted to University Hospital of North Staffordshire.”
