Defender Kelvin Langmead today pledged his future to Shrewsbury Town – revealing he expects to sign his new contract in the “next two or three days”.

Langmead is one of six out-of-contract Town players who have been considering fresh offers from manager Paul Simpson.

The deadline for the sextet to make their decision comes this week, and Langmead is the first member of the six to publically reveal he is ready to sign the terms at Shrewsbury

“Nothing is signed yet but hopefully things are going to be sorted out in the next two or three days,” said Shrewsbury’s longest serving player, who has been offered a two-year deal.

“Anyone who knows football will tell you that these type of situations never take a couple of days to resolve.

“Shrewsbury is my club and I will be really pleased to hopefully get it all sorted out in the next few days.

“The football club is a huge part of my life and I love living in the area, the fans and everything about it.

“Trying to help get this club promoted is something I really want to do and to have been to Wembley twice and failed is something I have huge regrets about.

“Hopefully I can get the contract signed and do what I can to help the club put that right.”

Crewe were one of the clubs linked with Langmead over recent weeks, but the 24-year-old, who became a regular during the final throes of last season after an injury to Mike Jackson, is ready to stay at Shrewsbury.

“Kelvin has been at the club for four years,” said Langmead’s agent Jesse Learoyd-Hill.

“He always wanted to sign for the club and it remains his mission to help Shrewsbury get promoted,” he added.

The prospect of Langmead staying means the spotlight now turns to the remaining five out of contract players, with Ben Davies, Darren Moss, Chris Humphrey, Steve Leslie and Omer Riza all still pondering their options.
