County clash in balance
Tuesday 23rd June 2009, 11:51AM BST.
Shropshire’s cricketers were today heading for a thrilling conclusion to their Minor Counties Championship clash with Wales at Bridgnorth, writes JAMES GARRISON.
The visitors began the final day with a lead of 199 with six second innings wickets in hand.
And that set up the likelihood of an intriguing run chase for James Ralph’s side this afternoon.
Wales were due to resume their second innings this morning on 181-4, with opener Gareth Rees unbeaten on 107.
Shropshire were hoping to make early inroads, with Wales bidding to accelerate to set up a declaration.
Both sides will be desperate to force victory to avoid falling further off the pace in the Western Division after they each drew their opening three-day game.
