A video of a stunt showing a go-kart with no rear wheels being dragged behind a car at 40mph has been posted on internet website YouTube.

A 22-year-old man believed to be from Bridgnorth has posted the video, which appears to show sparks flying up from the back of the go-kart as it was driven over the surface. Police today said the stunt was “incredibly dangerous” and a risk to the lives of road users.

The video shows the go-kart driver shaking his fist at the camera as he sets off and later laughing as the go-kart becomes difficult to control.

For the first half of the clip, which is just over two minutes long, he does not wear a helmet.

The film, called “Crazy Go Kart Towed Behind Car” was posted on the video sharing site in March.

Driver

For the first minute of footage, the kart driver is visible through what appears to be the open boot of a car, with the go-kart attached by a length of rope.

A motorbike helmet is visible in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. This helmet is then worn by the driver in the second half of the clip, but it is not possible to tell whether it is the same person. Several times during the course of the film, the go-kart skids so it is almost travelling sideways.

Sergeant Jeff Morris of the Road Policing Support Team said: “This behaviour is clearly incredibly dangerous and risks the life of both those involved and other road users. Anybody who knows the identity of either the car driver or the person on the go-kart is asked to con- tact police on 0300 3333 000.”

Information can be passed on anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.

The video has received more than 200 hits since it was posted on YouTube by “BHM551” who joined the site in January. In the description of the clip, the person who posted the video wrote: “Driving the crazy no back wheel go-kart behind the car down the back lanes. Managing to hit 40mph.”

This year, Michael James Hughes from Falcons Court, Much Wenlock was banned from driving for 28 days after a video of him driving from Shrewsbury to Telford in just 10 minutes was posted on YouTube.

That was possibly the worst constructed sentence I’ve read on here. If you are actually a teacher then our children have little hope.

As to the subject; I’m sure Shropshire has much more to report about than running with this drivel as a leading news item. The story hasn’t even been corroborated – using ‘believed to be from Bridgnorth’ as the only connection with Shropshire.

it will just fuel more stunts like this, not worth reporting at all, nothing better to report in Shropshire?
this sort of thing goes on every day everywhere

oh my god how can the police say he is a danger to other road users! the road looks dead and the only person he is going to hurt is himself!

why dont the police do something useful like catch people who are not insured or people who dont have a driving licence!

Looks like great fun! Shropshire Star… do you spend all your time looking on Youtube for videos of people daring to have fun on our roads? Yes, this is dangerous for the guy doing it, but there was no one else about. Please report real news, not someone going against health and safety and not being hurt in the process.

i think the police need to deal
with more serious crimes, are the
police just getting bored is that why
they are dealing with petty things like this.
i agree its wrong but there are more
serious things happening that the police
    dont deal with

It’s called having fun, people do it all the time, it’s a shame everything that has the danger of being enjoyable is frowned upon these days. Sure, it might be a little dangerous, that is after all some of the fun… it’s what people have been doing since man existed and it will never change. Good on them.

just goes to show… my wife is from brazil and she had to face headlines of up to 60 people getting SHOT AND KILLED every week back in Rio… As you can imagine, she is distraught to have moved away from such a violent climate to be faced with the sheer danger and outright TERROR caused by this front-page headline in the local paper tonight.

so what is the Star aiming to achieve?

Offers a £50 reward for video, and then posts them under RedTop headlines, aiming to encourage the next group to do something more daring, so the Star can report it under another more idiotic headline.

Seems to me the Star is encouraging this behaviour. Anyone who is hurt or injured will have a good claim against the Star, “only did it because the paper offers payment for video”.

Thanks Star, lots of work for hungry lawyers.
