Fogle turns spotlight on woodland centre
Thursday 18th June 2009, 11:09AM BST.
Television’s king of the outdoors Ben Fogle and a BBC film crew have paid a visit to a Telford woodland management centre.
Ben and the film crew visited the Green Wood Centre in Coalbrookdale as part of filming for the new series of BBC1 programme Country Tracks, due to be screened later this year.
The team spent several hours at the site, which runs woodland and craft courses.
Matthew Beech, project officer with the Small Woods Association at the centre, worked with Ben and was interviewed for the show.
He said: “The team were looking at why we run courses and to learn about the Small Woods Association, nationally and locally and to explain about that.
“Currently I am delivering a project for the local primary care trust trying to get people outside to use their green spaces through local activities and I told him about that.”
Ben learned about how to make coppice products, which is one of the courses run at the centre. He was filmed making a series of products using coppiced materials from the woods.
Mr Beech said: “Ben was very nice and he really enjoyed the visit here. I think he is interested in trying more courses.”
