Warning given to rubbish dumpers
Wednesday 17th June 2009, 6:00PM BST.
Fly-tippers dumping household rubbish in the shadow of The Wrekin were today warned: “We are watching you.”
Campaigners are going out into the countryside armed with video cameras to catch litter louts in the act.
And they have already collected incriminating information, such as bank details, which has been passed on to investigators.
It is the latest development in the war against the fly-tipping blighting the lanes and fields near Little Wenlock. Telford & Wrekin Council has promised to prosecute culprits but has been hampered by the lack of hard evidence and difficulties removing rubbish from private land.
Now campaign group Friends of the Ercall has gone on the offensive. Pat Judson, group leader, said he had been appalled by the latest spate of dumping around Dog in the Lane, Huntington and Swan Farm, close to The Ercall beauty spot.
“There’s everything from a fridge and old cookers to 35 bin bags, plastic bottles, children’s toys and motorbike and car tyres,” he said.
He added: “We’ve sifted through rubbish and have collected loan details for houses, post re-directions for new addresses and enforcement letters about outstanding bills.
“We’ve even got the Barclays sort number, account code and PIN number for a woman from Broseley.”
Mr Judson said information had been handed over to Telford & Wrekin Council.

Why do we Brits put up with it? All very predictable when the once fortnightly started.
And who are these ‘campaigners’ going out with video cameras putting their own safety at risk on behalf of a bunch of Town Hall pen pushers? Why aren’t ‘council workers’ going out with ‘video cameras’?? Answer on the back of next years inflated poll tax bills please.

What I would like to know is, if they are ‘Watching’ these people, why do they not apprehend and fine them? Or is that left to someone else too? Instead of wasting time money and effort on this why not just take it back to the normal weekly collections we had before. It would put an end to the fly tipping problems and the rat infestations AND we’d get our hard earned cash that we fork out yearly on council tax spent properly instead of it being milked off elsewhere to line their pockets!

Friends of the Ercall -the “campaigners” as “Merc” says, are residents, outsiders, incomers, and the socially aware.
We are not putting ourselves at risk – we have Dobermans with us at all times, and are in sufficiant numbers to feel very safe.
We also have an ex army guy who has night vision goggles, so be aware – if its you who are smoking Crack around the New Works lane mine site track – you left a kettle, adapted coke bottles, foil, and your prints.
We would relish comments from those whose details are within the flytipped rubbish, bank, mortgage, debt and even more private (viagra packets too). Perhaps one couple would like to reclaim their dumped paperwork from Telford and Wrekin Environmental enforcement Officers, I am sure they would be really pleased to meet you, despite moving to a new location in Telford around the place of the Industrial revolutions birth.
To the person who dumped his debt details at Little Wenlock, do you really need the awful female rubber doll we found in the bag with your name? (The vehicle that dumped this has had the registration taken and submitted – in this case not by us, but by a resident of the area.)
This all goes to show, that LOCALs are doing this, NOT outsiders, so you will be that much easier to find.
FOE.

Thanks for the expenses advice Merc – afraid I made a commitment to this area many years ago, but it did not involve getting paid for such, I would not expect those outside of a very small circle to understand or comprehend the reasons.
At least there is some humour in your postings, we had a good laugh when we found the sad fly tippers viagra packets and cheap horrible rubber doll.
I wnder if whoever left it wrote it off as “entertainment expenses ” to their business, as a box there contained promotion leaflets for a garden item firm.
