Town to fly forces’ flag
Wednesday 17th June 2009, 1:30PM BST.
Oswestry will fly a new flag next week to mark National Armed Forces Day.
The will be raised by the memorial gates in Cae Glas Park on Monday in a civic ceremony.
Councillor Margaret Chamberlain, town mayor, will help hoist it and organisers are urging people including former servicemen to turn out to watch the ceremony.
Geoff Rastall, from Oswestry’s RBL, said the town was one of 650 around Britain chosen to fly one of the Armed Forces Day flags.
“The aim is to raise awareness of our servicemen that are involved in conflicts,” he said.
