Ex-Toffee Field in chance to impress Bucks
Wednesday 17th June 2009, 1:22PM BST.
Former Everton trainee and TNS man Tom Field will be given the chance to earn a move to AFC Telford United.
The midfielder will feature during the Bucks pre-season programme as they prepare for a fresh tilt at promotion from the Blue Square North.
Field, who turns 24 in August, spent last season with Vauxhall Motors and lists Stalybridge, Southport, Altrincham and Droylsden amongst his former clubs.
“Tom will do pre-season with us and it gives us the opportunity to have a look at him and him the opportunity to have a look at us,” said manager Rob Smith, who remains hopeful of adding fresh blood to his squad before the start of pre-season training on Saturday week.
“We will have to see what room is available but he’s a very good player and one of a few lads we will probably have a look at during pre-season.”
Meanwhile, Smith is confident midfielder Jamie Vermiglio will be raring to go for the new season after recovering from a serious back injury which almost ended his career last term.
“Jamie has said his back feels really good,” added Smith.
“He has done all the treatment and come out of it well but the big test for Jamie is pre-season.
“If he comes through that he can come through anything and if he doesn’t, it will be something we have to look at.
“But Jamie is really position and is ready to go.”
