Let’s be honest here sainsbury do target the gullible they know their market mainly middle types . The people they target would not be seen dead in the other supermarkets so sainsbury have seen a great way of extracting more cash from this section of society and so charge over inflated prices .Ok some of the items are a lot fresher than it’s rivals products but some are exactly the same . In the main in my view all supermarkets are the same, the buy on get one free rubbish is exactly that it is always junk food/drink and cheaper items have a short sell by date.

I agree entirely, the problem I have living at Meole Brace, Shrewsbury is there’s not another supermarket within 3 miles of the Meole Sainsbury store, they have even taken over the small convenience store at Rea Brook, I don’t drive so I have no choice, it makes me sick that they can charge what they like.

£12.99 for a kilo of cherries? I paid £2 for 2 kilos at West Brom market at the weekend!

Let’s be honest here, the majority or the stock is of good value. Food pricing works on a supply and demand basis. Now, cherries aren’t a particularly popular product and so will not be that cheap! It’s not that the price is high because corporate managers of the supermarket want to squeeze as much money out of you as possible , as 1) this would not make people want to show at their supermarkets and so will ruin their reputation, and 2) you won’t buy the product if the price is too high anyway. If you don’t like high prices of SOME items, don’t buy them!

Stop moaning about supermarkets and do what we should all do – boycott them and use the markets/farm shops. Supermarkets will be the death of this country.

you’re kidding us right? you can freely go to any shop you like and buy products, if one shop is too expensive go to the cheaper one. it’s the simple laws of supply and demand – and if you pay their prices they’ll keep charging it – I mean wouldn’t you? It’s about time people realised that the supermarkets are a business, out to make a profit, and very good at it they are. They are not a public service there to supply wholesome foods at no mark up or a loss. It’s the demands of the public that are responsible for the way supermarkets are, the only way you will change them is to change your demands and be infliential by walking with your feet. Not convenient to shop elsewhere (‘I don’t drive’ comments) then you are paying the premium for the convenience of your local store – it’s your choice – remember that you always have choices, it’s just sometimes you don’t get your ideal you get to chose the least inconvenient options – it’s still a choice.
