Rescue motorist a ‘hero’
Tuesday 16th June 2009, 6:59PM BST.
A Shropshire man was hailed a hero today after he scrambled 30ft down a bank to pull a driver from the wreckage of a car.
Dale Robinson was in a queue of traffic close to Harley Bank, near Much Wenlock, when the driver in front plunged down a bank.
Together with another driver, Mr Robinson, 40, from Shrewsbury, scrambled down the bank, smashed a window and helped get the man out.
Paramedics described the injured man’s escape as “remarkable”. He received hospital treatment after suffering minor injuries in the incident which happened at about 8.15am yesterday.
Mr Robinson, a first aider who was on his way to work as manager of Bridgnorth Tyre Centre, said: “We went down the bank and broke a window to help the man. The car was smoking so I pulled the battery leads off.”
He said of the driver: “He could move everything so we thought we should get him out of the car.”
Mr Robinson’s wife, Melani, today praised her hero husband.

This is the sort of person who should get recognised in medal lists etc.. not the cronies of politicians

Couldn’t agree more with jeffb – this chap, along with the brave neighbours who forced their way into that buring house in Leegomery to rescue the family should be recognised – maybe the Shropshire Star can organise some sort of recognition for these extremely brave folk !!! ???
