Call to alter junction

One of Shropshire’s dangerous crossroads should be turned into a roundabout to prevent more accidents according to people living nearby.
The crossroads at Llynclys, where the A483 and A495 meet, about three miles south of Oswestry, has seen several collisions in recent years.
Now Llanyblodwel Parish Council and the area’s MP are urging Shropshire Council to carry out a traffic survey in the area, to look at the crossroads and other traffic dangers along the A495 into the Tanat Valley.
Owen Paterson, Conservative MP for North Shropshire, met residents and councillors yesterday to talk about the problems.
Although no-one has been killed at the crossroads, Gail Holloway, Llanyblodwel Parish Council clerk, said the busy junction was a major concern in the area.
The dossier says bus stops on the junction aggravate the problems, while there is poor visibility for southbound drivers.
Mrs Holloway said: “While we are waiting for a local bypass for the area, we are calling for traffic engineers to consider turning the crossroads into a roundabout.”
Mr Paterson said: “There are several problems with traffic at the junction and along the road into the Tanat Valley.
“Hazards include blind junctions and busy junctions with confused priority and a narrow road, in places not wide enough for lorries to pass, with several concealed entrances.”
Hugh Dannatt, Shropshire Council’s group manager for highway and traffic engineering, said: “We are happy to meet with the parish council to discuss any concerns they may have and encourage them to contact us.”

Whilst they are in the area perhaps SCC could look at Shottaton crossroads on the A5 which is an absolute nightmare in the mornings.

This story states that ‘Although no-one has been killed at the crossroads’… yes, they have.. check your info!
Also – Shottaton should definitely be next on the list – especially that blind hill coming from Shtewsbury.
