It takes more than an hour to travel from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth on the Severn Valley Railway – but you can do it in 69 seconds on shropshirestar.com

Please note this video has no audio.

Amateur photographer Martin James has sent in a video of the journey, but it isn’t a conventional film.

Instead, Mr James was given permission to fit his camera to the train window using a tripod and then took hundreds of individual photographs. “I took a picture every two seconds for the duration of the journey,” said Mr James, of Church Aston, near Newport. “In total I took about 1,700 shots which I put together on my computer.”

The result, called timelapse photography, makes the train appear to race through countryside to Bridgnorth.Mr James, an electrician working at DSG Donnington, is a member of the Newport Photographic Club and says timelapse is a particular passion. He has put some of his films on the video-sharing website Vimeo. More of his work can be seen at his website www.TF10.co.uk and at http://www.vimeo.com/user495612
