Chaos caused by flash flooding
Thursday 11th June 2009, 10:29AM BST.
Nationally, flood warnings remained in force for parts of northern England today after torrential rain poured into homes and caused gridlock on the roads. One of the worst affected areas in Shropshire and Mid Wales was Newtown, where the council was forced to close the A483 through the town as hailstones caused blockages in drains, and motorists had to be rescued from their vehicles. This was the scene in Waterside Mews, Newport.
