What a terrible waste of money, this town deserves better.

A BIT RUBBISH?? It’s A LOT rubbish in my opinion.
It reminds me of one of those K-TEL Record Racks in the 1970′s .. Or was it Ronco?

If Darwin was alive today-he would turn in his grave at this hideous monstrosity!!Who the hell designed this blot on the riverside?

Well I think it’s lovely

We work in a building near to the darwin memorial garden…we watched them take down the lovely cherry blossom tress to be replace by a stone “snail” monstrosity !!!! what a waste of money in this current climate

It’s like a giant slinky! Hope someone pushes it into the river, it brings tears to my eyes. We should have just erected a bearded tortoise

How do you know how it will look like wait untill it is built and finished? Then you can have your say, typical Shropshire not happy unless they are moaning.

Welcome to the backwater that is Shropshire, all tourists that dare enter here better be aware of the self opinionated armchair whingers that deride anything and everything that anyone does to improve the quality of life in this cultural desert.
I for one like it. I support the effort of anyone to bring public sculpture into towns and cities.
It is the public sculpture that distinguishes one high street from another.

Personally I think it’s a huge Slug taking a £350,000 Quantum Leap backwards.

Hey hey thats my bro in law and even if you think the projects rubbish (i like it) hes great ok.

Love it or loath it one thing is certain it will become a giant climbing frame for those out for a dare after a night out at the pub. At over 12 metres high watch out for accidents when they fall off!

QUANTUM HEAP !! That’s a megga waste of our hard earnt money. I suppose for you in the public sector on big salaries and gold plated pensions it is easy come easy go money.

What a total waste of money. Its unsightly and is a magnet for vandels, why chose something like this?. When i heard about a memorial i was to be truthful expecting something simple and discreat such as a water feature or a small sculpture, not this eyesore

Sarah and others would have something small and discreet and well lets say boring. So often local authorities play it safe and put in art which is simply road furniture and achieves nothing. It gives hope to all of us that there are those out there who have put up their own money for this art and it is not just the council building it with tax payers money. I hope the art is bold and strong. I hope it is not hidden away or predictable. I hope that the majority of Shropshire understand that we need to move on and stop pretending that Shropshire is protected from the real world. As I said earlier give it a chance then if you do not like it moan then not before as this shows only an intolerance to anything new.

I personally see it as an intriguing view point from the Theatre. They have opened up an area of the town which has seen little attention (except when flooding occurs). Having lived in Shrewsbury all my life i never ventured along that stretch, but intend to now with its appeal. Let us open our town to more varying culture.

I don’t have an opinion on the sculpture itself, but £350,000 for this certainly makes the £80,000 spent on Darwin’s Gate (at the top of Mardol) pale into insignificance.

How much more Darwin rubbish do we need in this town let’s hope someone drives a JCB into it and shoves it in the river..

What like a little cherub relieving himself from the local gardening centre!
This sculpture could have been awarded to the place where Darwin spent his later life they might have appreciated it more than standing stillsbury.
It always seems an irony that Charles Darwin the very person who ended up bringing to our notice, evolution should have been born into a town that thinks the past is the only time worth celebrating.
