Ex-teachers wish Kris well

Sunday 7th June 2009, 5:59PM BST.

kris-donnelly2Teaching staff at the former schools of Shrewsbury’s Big Brother contestant Kris Donnelly have remembered him as a dedicated sportsman who won a number of trophies while in the town.

He is fondly remembered in the town from his time at three schools, while his family still live in Shrewsbury.

Kris, who now works as a visual merchandiser in Manchester, attended Shrewsbury College of Arts and Technology from 2002 to 2003.

The 24-year-old, who walked into the Big Brother house on Thursday night along with Freddie Fisher, a 23-year-old web programmer from near Market Drayton, grew up in Longden Road, Shrewsbury.

Staff at college along with the Wakeman School and Coleham Primary School, which Kris also attended, all wished him luck on the show.

Peter Staples, spokesman for the college, said: “Kris did sports science and was in the mens’ football college of excellence which was for students focusing on football.”

Kris also attended the Wakeman School, in Shrewsbury, from 1996 to 2001.

A school spokesman said today: “At school we remember Kris as a popular, fun loving and charismatic pupil.

“He was a dedicated sportsman who represented the school and won trophies for his achievements.”

Lynne Rathnell, headteacher at Coleham Primary School, said: “We will be watching to see how he gets on.”
