Shrewsbury Town Council election results

The Conservatives have won control of the new Shrewsbury Town Council.

The party took 12 of the 17 wards.

Labour won three wards and the Liberal Democrats two.

The previous Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council, which ceased to exist at midnight on March 31, was also run by the Conservatives.

There was one major casualty fo the Tories. Former mayor Judith Williams lost out on the Porthill ward to current Mayor Liberal Democrat Anne Chebsey.

Abbey Ward

  • Winner: Josephine Jones, Conservative, 797 votes
  • John Olaf, The Labour and Co-Operative Party, 445 votes

Bagley Ward

  • Winner: David Farmer, Conservative, unopposed

Battlefield Ward

  • Winner: Malcolm Thomas Price, Conservative, 601 votes
  • Ian Francis Peake, Labour, 229

Belle Vue Ward

  • Winner: Alan Richard Herbert Townsend, Labour, 929 votes
  • Stephen John Jetley, Conservative, 678

Bowbrook Ward

  • Winner: Peter Michael Adams, Conservative, 861 votes
  • Charles Patrick Wilson, Labour, 268

Castlefields and Ditherington Ward

  • Winner Alan Neil Mosley, Labour, 857 votes
  • Deborah Scollan, Conservative, 367

Column Ward

  • Jacqueline M Brennand, Conservative, 850 votes
  • Elizabeth A Parsons, Labour, 523 votes

Copthorne Ward

  • Winner: Peter Nutting, Conservative, unopposed

Harlescott Ward

  • Winner: Susan Taggart, Conservative, 557 votes
  • Ioan Gruffydd Jones, Labour, 509 votes

Meole Ward

  • Winner: Kath Owen, Conservative, unopposed

Monkmoor Ward

  • Winner: John Anthony Durnell, Conservative, 571 votes
  • Pamela Ann Moseley, Labour, 570 votes

Porthill Ward

  • Winner: Anne Marilyn Chebsey, Lib Dem, 868 votes
  • Judith Anne Williams, Conservative, 655 votes

Quarry and Coton Hill Ward

  • Winner: Andrew James Wagner, Conservative, 590 votes
  • James Grimshaw Gollins, Albion Party, 288 votes

Radbrook Ward

  • Winner: Keith Roberts, Conservative, unopposed

Sundorne Ward

  • Winner: Dean Spencer Carroll, Conservative, 538 votes
  • Daniel Moore, Labour, 392

Sutton and Reabrook Ward

  • Winner: Jon Tandy, Labour, 897 votes
  • Mark Anthony Jones, Conservative, 454 votes

Underdale Ward

  • Winner: Jonathan Miles Whittorn Kenny, Lib Dem, 973 votes
  • David John Morgan, Conservative, 140 votes
  • Robert Henry Philip Allum, Labour, 135 votes

Turn-out was 42.93 per cent.
