King back in the game
Saturday 6th June 2009, 1:18PM BST.
Former Shrewsbury Town and Telford United manager Jake King has ended his six-year absence from football.
King has taken up a position as coach to Brian Coyne at Welsh Premiership side Aberystwyth in what will be his first job since being controversially sacked by then Telford chairman Andy Shaw in 2003.
And the Glaswegian, who took over the Plume of Feathers pub at Harley, near Much Wenlock, when finishing with his second spell with the Bucks, is delighted to be back on the football ladder.
“Bryan rang me up because he was disappointed to lose in the Welsh Cup final and only finish eighth in the league and wanted my experience to help with the coaching,” said King, who still lives in Shrewsbury.
“I had a business venture but I have had two years off and I’m ready to come back into football now.
“I had three or four clubs ring me up when I had the pub but I was fully concentrating on that at the time.
“I’m ready to get back into football now and I’m happy to start at the bottom of the ladder and work my way up.”
