Friends of Shropshire Big Brother contestant Freddie Fisher said it was no surprise he had made it on to the show and wished him luck.

Entrepreneur Freddie, 23, from Oakley Hall, near Market Drayton, was the first person to enter the Big Brother house last night.

The 23-year-old went to Shrewsbury School before attending Oxford University.

He describes himself as a “polymath – a free spirit for whom 2009 is about blossoming”, which is why he decided to go into the Big Brother house.

Freddie lives with his parents in a stately home and gets annoyed when people put his achievements down to the wealth of his parents.

During Big Brother auditions, he said his parents were clever, but they annoy him sometimes, but their house was so large it didn’t matter as he only sees them at meal times.

Freddie was a member of the Young Conservative Association although he claims he is an anarchist at heart.

He now claims he has thought about becoming a politician, though when he was four he wanted to be a paleontologist and his dream job would be to be a rock star.

He does not own a TV and claims not to know how Big Brother works.

Alex Walters, 22, a trainee journalist living in London, was in the year below Freddie at Shrewsbury School.

He said Freddie was “highly eccentric” and his appearance on Big Brother came as “absolutely no surprise whatsoever”.

“I think he was always one of those people who would go on it,” he said.

“He was an oddball, he was likeable at heart.

“He is harmless, he is a very nice, kind-hearted person, he’s just very, very strange.”

Friends have been showing their support for Freddie on his Facebook page.

He has 382 friends and lists himself as a libertarian and discordian. A fan club dedicated to the Oxford graduate has already been set up on the site.

Messages of support left on his page include one from Madeleine Fisher. It said: “Good luck brother!”
