He describes himself as an aspiring politician and is an Oxford University graduate.

The fourth contestant to walk into the house was Kris Donnelly, 24, who grew up in Longden Road, Shrewsbury.

He was described by presenter Davina McCall as “curly-haired crumpet”.

But the 16 competitors were faced with a shock when they were told by Big Brother that none of them are actually housemates and they will have to earn their place.

Kris’s family in Shrewsbury were watching him on television and held a party to break the news to friends.

Dad Phil Donnelly, 52, said it had been hard not to see or speak to Kris for two weeks when he was

taken away by the Big Brother team.

He said: “It was weird seeing him on television and very surreal. It was nice to see him and he’s my boy so I just love him to bits.”

Mr Donnelly, who admitted he is not the biggest fan of Big Brother, added: “We are proud of him as long as he does not do anything silly.

“We have given him the rules and certain things not to say.”

Kris’s sister Karly, 21, said: “We all just started screaming when he came on.

“He came across quite cool.”
