A Shropshire boy has warned MPs fiddling their expenses that they would not get away with it if his mum was in charge.

James Parry, 14, of Six Ashes, Bridgnorth, wrote to the Daily Telegraph comparing the nation’s MPs to greedy children asking for more school dinner money for extra pudding.

James said he was annoyed with various MPs’ attempts to excuse their behaviour.

He said: “I was just getting fed up with it and I was in a bit of a mood with the TV.”

Mum, Sheena Parry, a lecturer in land law and ethics at Wolverhampton University, said: “He was listening to the news and Julie Kirkbride was on yet again saying ‘we are not outside the rules, we are entitled’ and he said ‘I’m entitled to dinner money but if I asked for more, you would say that’s theft, why do they get away with it?’”

His mum suggested asking someone who knew more about it so James e-mailed the Telegraph last Wednesday.

James, who gets £3 for lunch each day, wrote: “I’m entitled to dinner money every day, but if I went home and told my mother I needed more because I wanted extra pudding, I would be in trouble. I recommend putting my mother in charge, she would soon sort the MPs out.”

His mum added: “It has motivated the kids to get more involved in politics. There doesn’t seem to be anything the MPs can say, they should start with ‘sorry’. They’ve got no honesty and integrity.”
