Shrews fan backs show favourite Susan
Saturday 30th May 2009, 12:15PM BST.

Three Shrewsbury Town fans were able to wish Britain’s Got Talent singing sensation Susan Boyle good luck in person – after bumping into her in the unglamorous surroundings of a London cafe.

Ian Turner and his sons Michael, 16, and Nicholas, 15, met the favourite to win tonight’s live final when they went to Wembley to cheer on Shrewsbury Town last weekend.
They even managed to persuade Miss Boyle to pose for a photo.
Mr Turner, 60, said: “We arrived at Wembley quite early so we had a long walk around. As it was so warm, we decided to find a cafe for a drink.
“There were only two ladies inside. We sat at our table. After ordering our drinks, Michael nodded to me in the direction of these two ladies and one of them was Susan Boyle.
“We were so surprised to see her as she is the woman of the moment. Her friend spoke to us saying how nice the weather was. l then asked her ‘is she who l’m thinking’ and she said yes.
“l then asked her if we can take a photo. She told us it was no problem.”
He added: “We then got talking about her home in Scotland.”
Although Boyle did not attend the match, Mr Turner said she wished them good luck and he did likewise. He said: “She did not mind at all when l asked her if l can take a photo. We all think that she is doing very well in the competition.”
Mr Turner said he does not usually take part in phone votes but he will be watching the programme tonight.

Who cares. I can just imagine that every desperate-for-a-story paper runs a story every time someone from their town meets her. How sad.
