Turner to extend his stay at Bucks

Defender Jimmy Turner has become the latest player to commit his future to AFC Telford United – and the club insist further deals are imminent.
The former Tamworth man has agreed to extend his stay at the New Bucks Head for another season as boss Rob Smith continues to wheel and deal.
Turner joins midfielders Carl Rodgers, Jon Adams, Jamie Vermiglio and Steve Jagielka in reaching agreement.
The Bucks have offered terms to several other members of the squad that went so close to promotion from the Blue Square North, and chairman Lee Carter expects further announcements over the coming days.
“We are making very good progress with the players that we spoke with this week – in fairness it looks like they all will probably stay,” he said.
“The management team are also working very hard on also bringing new faces to the squad.
“We asked the fans to be patient in terms of news on the retained list last week and to be fair they have.
“The club is in a great financial shape and we have as much desire as ever to be in and around the top five next season,” he added.
“Ambition should never be judged on the amount of money being thrown around – it should always be judged on desire, commitment and application.”
Meanwhile, right-sided defender Martyn Naylor has been released, bringing the former TNS man’s one-season stay with the Bucks to an end.
Naylor, who also played for the old Telford United in the 1990s, had started the season in Smith’s first team but struggled to hold onto a place once Lee Vaughan returned from suspension and found his form.
“We would like to thank Martyn for his endeavours for the club this season and wish him all the best for the future,” said Carter.
