Oops - looks like we’ve started something now.
Our blanket coverage of Shrewsbury Town over the last few weeks threw up a lot of ideas for different angles ahead of today’s game – one of which was the fact fans’ favourite Ben Davies is getting married in a couple of weeks.
A photographer was dispatched to get some pictures of the happy couple and Ben and fiancee Lisa were excellent sports.
However, Mr Davies may now be regretting his decision to pose doing the washing up in a pair of rubber gloves while Lisa looked on.
I’ll be honest, I took the decision to use that picture because I thought Ben’s team-mates might enjoying ribbing him about it.
And it seems I was right.
On Thursday the rest of the squad turned up in their own marigolds and by all accounts gave the midfielder a hard time. It even got a mention on the Beeb and on Sky Sports.
And now there is a thread on Shrewsbury Town fans’ website Blue and Amber encouraging anyone going to Wembley to buy their own rubber gloves and don them for the game. There’s even advice on where to buy the cheapest and suggestions that supporters consider wearing one blue and one yellow one.
If only I had shares in latex. On second thoughts….
