Hospital wait is cut
Wednesday 20th May 2009, 11:10AM BST.
Hospital waiting times for Powys residents have been cut by more than half, new figures have revealed.
Welsh patients now have to wait 24 weeks for an operation instead of the maximum 58-week anticipated delay recorded last year.
But John Howard, Montgomery Community Health Council chief officer, said more still needed to be done to close the gap between English and Welsh patients. He said: “There is still a big difference in waiting times.”
He said English patients are waiting 16 weeks.
No-one from Powys Local Health Board was available for comment.
