Authority error hits TNS plans
Wednesday 20th May 2009, 11:29AM BST.
A Welsh Premier League club will have to wait and see if plans for 3,000 seats at its Oswestry ground will get the go-ahead after a planning meeting was postponed due to a council error.
The Shropshire Council interim regulatory committee was due to meet yesterday to determine the proposals for The New Saints Football Club’s Park Hall ground, but was postponed until next week.
More than 60 objections have been received against the plans
Edwina Smart, council development management services northern area manager, said: “We have a commitment to inform all interested parties of which committee an application will be considered.
“In this case not everyone was informed in time, so a decision was taken to postpone the meeting to make sure everyone was informed.
“We made sure people were made aware of the change wherever possible, and the application will be considered on May 28 at 3pm at the council chamber in Castle View, Oswestry.”
TNS’s plans could see the ground upgraded to meet UEFA regulations, to be able to host European football games – the club have qualified for the new Europa League next season after finishing third in the Welsh Premier League.
Ian Williams, TNS general manager, said the postponement of the meeting would not impact on their plans.

Sixty objections?
That must be everyone in the area.
But it will still go through.
At least that means 100 seats each
for a typical crowd!
