Town to get new CCTV camera

Monday 18th May 2009, 4:00PM BST.

A new CCTV camera is to be installed in an area of Shrewsbury within the next two weeks to clamp down on “sporadic” anti-social issues.

The camera will be installed by Shropshire Council around the shops area in Ditherington Road.

In the short-term it will be a mobile camera, which will overlook the shops which have been targeted, and will also focus on the traffic lights and the nearby estate.

Councillor Alan Mosley, Shropshire Council member for Castlefields and Ditherington, said: “I’m absolutely delighted.

“It’s been a long struggle to get this sorted.”
