Shrews fan on the ball at chippie
Saturday 16th May 2009, 9:48AM BST.
More than half of Shrewsbury Town’s ticket allocation for the crunch play-off final at Wembley has been sold and manager Paul Simpson called on fans to keep the feel-good factor going up to the big day.
The club said just under 15,000 tickets had been bought by fans for the match against Gillingham on Saturday.
And fans are also being urged to support a raffle at a Shrewsbury chippie which could win them a piece of sporting memorabilia.
Flippin Fish, Hereford Road, Meole Brace, is offering them the chance to win a signed football. Proceeds will go to Homestart, which helps families with children under five, and Grinshill Animal Rescue.
Judy Davies, Shrewsbury Town ticket office manager, said some of the club’s additional allocation of 4,000 tickets which arrived yesterday were also selling well.
The club now has a total allocation of 25,000, compared to Gillingham’s 38,000.
Paul Simpson said the semi-final win at Bury had given everyone a boost. He said: “Everybody has got such a lift from it and getting there, we have got to use that lift to keep the momentum.”
