Car blaze blocks lane
Saturday 16th May 2009, 10:47AM BST.
Long tailbacks built up in Telford today when a road leading into one of the borough’s biggest interchanges had to be partially closed because of a fire.
A 100-metre stretch of one of the two northbound lanes of the A464 at the Castle Farm Interchange was closed for about 20 minutes while firefighters tackled the blaze in a Smart car at about 10.40am.
Pete Hawkins, Telford Central fire station watch manager, said the car was being towed by a camper van when it burst into flames.
The fire is thought to have been sparked by an electrical fault. No-one was injured.
