There are graduate jobs out there

The recession-fuelled headlines make depressing reading.
Only recently the West Midlands Chambers of Commerce reported a decline in all sectors of business across the region in the first three months of the year.
This is having a knock-on effect on the jobs market, with confidence at an all-time low amongst those looking for employment.
We recently carried out a survey with over 1,000 undergraduates at seven of the main university campuses in the region and, unsurprisingly, found they fear the recession will leave them out of work when they complete their studies.
Grad Central, a new recruitment service funded by Advantage West Midlands, has a number of graduate level roles still to fill due to a lack of candidates.
With 20,000 new graduates set to enter the West Midlands jobs market this summer, my advice to any final year student, is to start looking now.
There are degree level jobs out there, and many businesses that we are working with are creating new roles for graduates.

I do not care if the graduate has not got a job after 2 months on benefits they should be forced to take any job.

Jobs are THE key issue at the moment.
Many world leaders are realising that green industries will create more jobs than the old ones.
For example, investments in wind power and solar power would create more jobs per kilowatt hour than investments in coal, gas or nuclear.
In January 2009 the South Korean Prime Minister announced a Green New Deal. 81% of the £23bn South Korean stimulus package is going into green projects, and over 900,000 JOBS are going to be created with this.
In January 2009 Japanese Environment Minister Tetsuo Saito announced Green New Deal plans “to create something that would create jobs by the millions and will fundamentally change Japanese society.”
Barack Obama wants to create 2 million jobs with his version of the Green New Deal.
UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, called on governments on March 31st 2009 to make large scale investments in energy efficiency, clean energy and green jobs.
He said, “Green growth can and must be a major component of any global stimulus plan. It has the greatest potential to CREATE JOBS.” (my capitals)
In the UK only a tiny part of this year’s budget is going into green investments.
It would be great if we had a more visionary and ambitious approach in this country towards converting our economy to a low-carbon economy.
If the investments were big enough, there would be tremendous potential to start a green industrial revolution and create hundreds of thousands of JOBS in the process.
