Pensioner jailed for sex offences

An Oswestry man aged 65 has been jailed after admitting a number of sexual offences with a teenage girl.
Keith Lockett, of Malory Road, Oswestry, appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday after admitting three separate sexual offence charges between 2006 and 2008.
He was sentenced to two years on each charge, to run concurrently, banned from working with children for life and ordered to pay £1,240 court costs.

Judge Robin Onions said on his release he would be subject to the notification requirements under the Sexual Offences Act.
Mrs Janet Pitt-Lewis, prosecuting, said: “It is alleged on various occasions when the victim was 16 and 17 there was sexual intercourse. They had sex together about twice a week over an 18-month period.”
Mr Desmond Parry, for Lockett, said: “He is thoroughly ashamed.”
He added: “He says he should have known better.”
