Tesco hit by tills failure
Monday 11th May 2009, 12:34PM BST.
Tills at Tesco supermarkets across the country, including Shropshire, were partly knocked out today.
A software update for a new Tesco Clubcard offer is being blamed. It meant that some of the tills would only take card payments from about 6am to about 9.30am.
Jim Bradford, manager at the Wrekin Retail Park branch, said: “We are doing a big Clubcard launch. The update for that has knocked out the cash payment on tills temporarily.”
Ian Robotham, who went to get fuel at Wrekin Retail Park, said: “They had a sign up saying you could not pay cash at the till.”

See now, If the head honchos within Tescos spent a bit more time on employing decent staff that will work instead of gassing with their mates and totally ignoring wage paying customers. If they bothered to stack the shelves half the time, and made sure that they kept their prices around the same as other stores do they wouldn’t need to faff about with the Clubcard offers and this would not have happened.
Although there are some wonderful ladies on the tills at Wellington’s Tescos, namely Chrissy and Josie from the main tills and Mary and Pat on the tobacco counter. The rest are a bunch of miserable idle whingers! (I’m sure there may be a couple more, but their names escape me) (Can’t be that good can they?)
