A man was punched in the face and forced to empty his pockets and hand over his mobile phone by a gang of men in Wellington.

The victim was walking along Albert Road when he heard footsteps behind him.

The 21-year-old moved to the side to let the people past but was hit from behind to the side of the face. He turned around and saw four men he did not know.
