Survey on town’s shopping

Friday 8th May 2009, 12:06PM BST.

stretton-treesMore than 1,000 people took part in a survey on how a Shropshire town could improve its shopping experience.

Church Stretton Area Partnership sent out 2,500 questionnaires and conducted interviews in the high street.

Working with academics at Staffordshire University, they have highlighted five areas for discussion at a public meeting on May 19 at The Silvester Horne Institute at 7.30pm.

Mayor Councillor Bob Welch said: “The discussion will focus on the range, quality and cost of goods on offer and the marketing and promotional material we need.

“We will also look at improving the attractiveness of the town, improving transport links and strengthening the Chamber of Trade by increasing links with tourism providers.”
