Home revamp to create 30 jobs

Friday 8th May 2009, 11:59AM BST.

Thirty jobs will be created and 31 extra nursing beds provided in a multi-million pound development at a Shropshire care home.

Coverage Care has agreed terms with Shropshire Council to buy Innage Grange in Bridgnorth.

Though neither party is giving details of the purchase price, Coverage Care will be investing £3 million in developing the home which was opened by the Duchess of York in 1991.

David Coull, Coverage Care chief executive, said today: “We hope to complete the purchase of Innage Grange this month, with a planning application already approved to extend the home to provide 31 additional beds which will be available for new residents by November 2010.

“By working closely with Shropshire Council and the Bridgnorth Older People’s Welfare Association, we are keen to create a sustainable residential care home with 83 beds which will provide a wider range of care services for the local community.”

The home, which currently provides residential care for 52 people in the Bridgnorth area, has been run since 1997 by Coverage Care on behalf of the authority, formerly the county council.

Mike Morris, Shropshire Council’s assistant director for community services, said: “We welcome this initiative as it will enhance our ability to provide residential and nursing care services in Bridgnorth.”
