Star’s front row seat for sporting history
- Local newspaper week
Gateshead 1 AFC Telford 0
Friday 8th May 2009, 10:15PM BST.
AFC Telford’s dream of finally returning to the top flight of non-league football ended in a 1-0 defeat at Gateshead tonight.
The match was a stalemate until the last 10 minutes, when it all started to unravel for the Bucks.
First, Lee Vaughan received his second yellow card and was sent off, leaving the Bucks with just 10 men.
Then, only minutes later, Gateshead finally scored, and Rob Smith’s men were unable to respond.
