Drink-drive crackdown
Thursday 7th May 2009, 11:47AM BST.
Drink and drug drivers in Telford will be caught in a crackdown due to be launched by police tomorrow, officers warned today.
Officers said anyone who thought they could risk the “gamble” of getting behind the wheel after drinking too much alcohol or under the influence of illegal drugs would be targeted.
Police across the borough will conduct targeted patrols.
They want to discourage people from giving in to the temptation of driving after having a drink at summer events.

Why do they pre-warn about this?
Next they will be publishing a timetable of where their patrol cars are going to be to ‘deter’ burglars !
If they’re serious about catching criminals surely the element of surprise should be used.

Blimey, if they stop every car that’s wandering about the road, driving suspiciously slowly, not indicating, using islands incorrectly, pulling out into oncoming traffic etc, then they will need to double their forces because the amount of drivers that I see around Telford doing these things should warrant a “pull” every few minutes.
