Kennels permit revoked

Wednesday 6th May 2009, 12:39PM BST.

Planning permission to build hunt kennels for up to 80 dogs in north Shropshire has been quashed, it was revealed today.

Shropshire Council has overturned the decision made by the former North Shropshire District Council to grant permission for the kennels at Greenfields, Ossage Lane, Whixall.

The kennels, for the North Shropshire Hunt, would have accommodated up to 80 dogs and included on-site accommodation for workers.

Council chiefs quashed permission after campaigners warned they would take the case to judicial review before a High Court judge.

It is the second time permission has been quashed, with planning permission previously granted in September last year and then quashed in November in the face of judicial proceedings.

A No Hunt Kennel spokesman today said: “It is clear vindication of our claim that the development raises serious environmental issues.”

No-one was available for comment from Shropshire Council.

What would be the point of building hent kennels for up to 80 dogs when hunting with dogs has been banned. If there is too many dogs…..STOP BREEDING THEM!!

Devil: I suppose you are saying don’t build more schools, stop having children?

    Dear Mr Devil………
Contrary to what the tabloids would have you believe. The sport of Hunting hasn’t been banned, just using the dogs against live quarry.
The “Devil” is in the detail you see. ;)

At last a victory for the animals, they are few and far between. Hunting is a disgraceful “sport”. If foxes need controlling then I would rather see them shot by a marksman then hunted for pleasure. Well done the Council!

Lucy W – Children are more important than animals – I can’t understand why you would bring up such a daft comparison, and yes I have 3 children :)

Sandra, I don’t have children through choice, but do have many animals and differ with you, although I wouldn’t go as far as beg to differ. If Robert Mugabwe and a kitten were drowning, who would you save first?

As far as I am concerned these affectionate hounds need somewhere to see out their retirement in peace or would these objectors like a retirement home for Dictators build next to them?

Lucy W, liking neither Mugabe or cats/kittens, I know what I would do. First I would push Mugabe further under and hold him down which would take a minute or two, and, by the time I had finished that, I would save the kitten if it was still floundering. Problem solved.
    Well done the Council.

YOU bunch of fools will NEVER understand how the countryside works. i honestly think you have as little right to comment on weather the kennels should not be given permission as much as the people opposing the kennels had to make up rubbish to poison the ears of others. what a pitty we are saying good bye to more and more of the england that once was, without idiots like this turning it into a mess.

Lucy you really need to get a reality check – we are talking about dog kennels, not dictators and kittens – you might want to re-read the original article again, and fly home from never never land and read what people have commented about. Yes everyone is entitled to their opinions, but you are kind of getting rather silly comparing a dog to Robert Mugabe lol.

Sandra: I wasn’t comparing Mugabe to a dog, I was comparing him to a kitten. I think its you who need to re-read the thread.

    Lucy,
Children are necessary for the continution of the human race, HUNTING DOGS ARE NOT! WE DO NOT NEED HUNT DOGS BUT WE NEED CHILDREN! Cats can go the same way as well, dirty stinking bird killers!

Devil: But is the continuation of the human race necessary?

Isn’t the Global Warming and total destruction of the world because there are too many humans on the planet?

I think we could learn a thing or two from China on this one.
