Vandal attacks in early hours

Tuesday 5th May 2009, 12:59PM BST.

Thousands of pounds damage is being caused in repeated vandalism attacks in Llanfyllin, police said today.

Vandals have been smashing windows and pulling wing mirrors off parked cars at roughly the same time each weekend.

Now officers are vowing to crack down on the behaviour and “name and shame” those responsible for the vandalism, which is happening in the early hours of Sunday.

Constable Kevin Jones, of Dyfed-Powys Police, said he was appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

“We are investigating damage caused to vehicles along New Road leading to the Bron-y-Gaer estate in the town.”

“A car was damaged in the early hours of Sunday and it has been happening regularly now in recent months,” he said.

“Someone has been smashing windows and damaging wing mirrors on vehicles.

“Witnesses have heard noises in the early hours, usually between 1am and 4am and the damage is being caused at weekends, normally in the early hours of Sunday.”

Anyone with information can call the new police line on 101.
