Pop acts thrill huge crowd

They may only have finished fourth when they hit the nation’s television screens on X Factor – but yesterday shoppers at Telford Shopping Centre declared Same Difference their number one.
British pop act Sean and Sarah Smith thrilled a huge crowd and brought the centre to a halt.

They were joined by English dance group Signature, who found fame last year on Britain’s Got Talent for their Michael Jackson-themed dances. The group have become so popular that members of the Jacksons are now among their fans.
Yesterday, Same Difference’s fortunes were in sharp contrast to the early stages of X Factor 2007, when they were famously described by Simon Cowell as “potentially two of the most annoying people I’ve ever met”.
They were on song as they performed hits that had earned them telly glory when they appeared on X Factor, with versions of Wham’s Wake Me Up Before You Go Go and Starship’s Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now winning rapturous applause.
Sean and Sarah were all smiles as they sang and danced their way through an upbeat show. Those lucky enough to get a place in front of the stage sang and waved their arms above their heads. But few were able to dance – the shopping centre was too crushed for that.

The atmosphere was buzzing. It was great that Telford got to see these acts but it was so packed, it was scary. In future the stage needs to be higher so you can actually see the act. Why not use the town park area with some overhead cover? Then more people could see who’s performing and the town centre would still make a profit from those using the car parks and shops.

It was a good idea but poorly planned, I went to the town to get a few things but couldn’t get from one place to another. Me and my partner became jammmed in a wave of young people enjoying the act but also my many other people like ourselves just trying to get by including pushchirs and wheelchair users, who were getting hit in the face by handbags and the like.
Nice idea town centre, but next time use a bit of common sense, that square was simply not big enough to put on a show like that!

it was an ace day.
its just a shame that it wasnt properly organised, then we would have been able to see , signature wouldnt have had to cut down their performance and the health and safety of those that were up the town centre wouldnt have been in danger.
but overall it was a good day and a lot of people enjoyed it!
